SvBMT Protagoras (Studievereniging der Biomedische Technologie) is the study association for students of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Sciences and Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology. As a study association we try to contribute to the life of a student in all aspects: education, development and recreation.
Education
As a study association, we take care of a number of things concerning education for our members. One of these things is book sales. Students can order books through the official book site which can later be picked up at our place. Also, one of our board members is Education Commissioner. This means that she continually engages with students and teachers to continue to improve education in a collaborative way. On our website we also have an exam and courses database. Here students can practice old exams of courses and view reviews of courses or decide whether they want to take a particular course or not. In this way, we always try to be involved in education within our faculty.
Relaxation
Besides the education on our faculty, we also try to provide the necessary relaxation for our members. For example, every Thursday from 16:30 there are drinks in our own drinks room In Vivo. There you can come and drink a beer for €1.00 and a glass of soda for €0.60. We also have a whole range of activities that our members can participate in. From cocktail and cooking workshops to pub crawls and pubquizzes. Also, as an association, we organize a theme party 4 to 5 times a year at our regular pub, the Villa Fiesta. This is how we try to contribute to an active, fun student life. Every year we also organize a symposium on a BME-related theme. Speakers from home and abroad make for an interesting day!
Personal development
As a study association, it is important to give your members opportunities to develop in areas other than study. This is why we have about 20 different committees you can join. These committees range from a photo committee (LumiCie) to a party committee (Fissacom) or Career Orientation Committee (COC). In such a committee you will learn to work together, organize events and have a good time with your committee mates. This is not only incredibly valuable for your own experience, but also looks good on your resume.
